Welcome to the help documentation for WonderPen! In this document, we will quickly introduce the basic features of WonderPen, to help you get started quickly and easily.
What is WonderPen?
WonderPen is a writing software that can be used for novels, essays, papers and other writing scenarios. Whether you are a full-time writer, an amateur writing enthusiast or a student, you can use it to complete your work.
WonderPen focuses on writing scenarios and is committed to providing authors with an efficient and easy-to-use writing environment. You can visit the WonderPen homepage to download and experience it at any time.
First Steps: From Library to Export
This manual primarily covers the desktop app. Start with these steps, then explore other features as you need them.
Create a Library
Click Open or Create in the start window. Choose a Local Library to keep your work on your computer, or sign in and create a Cloud Library for WonderPen cloud synchronization. See Library for help choosing a type and creating it.
Write your first document
Open the Library, click
+to create a document, give it a title, and write in the central editor. Changes are saved automatically. Start with a few short documents, then organize chapters in the directory tree. You can also import existing drafts.Set up an extra backup
In Settings → Backup, keep automatic backups enabled and add an extra backup location outside the Library folder. Cloud synchronization also carries edits and deletions, so you still need independent backups. See Backup and Restore.
Export a readable copy
Click Export in the top bar, select your documents, choose a format such as PDF, Word, or text, and check the preview before saving. See Export. To move an entire Library to another computer, use a Zip export.

A Local Library stores data in a folder you choose on your computer, so you can write without an internet connection. A downloaded Cloud Library also has a local copy: you can continue editing downloaded content if the connection fails, and syncing resumes automatically when you reconnect. (Opening a Library that has not yet been downloaded requires an internet connection; images and other Assets that have not been downloaded may be unavailable offline. See Cloud Synchronization.)
Is WonderPen suitable for me?
WonderPen is a powerful writing tool that is suitable for most text writing scenarios. However, no tool is omnipotent, and WonderPen also has its strengths and weaknesses.
For example, WonderPen is good at:

WonderPen is not good at:

Can I try it out for free?
Yes. WonderPen's basic features are free, including essential editing, backup, and export functions. Eligible new users can try Pro+ features using the Trial button in the desktop app account panel. See Version Comparison and the in-app information for current trial duration and eligibility.
What happens when the trial expires?
After the trial expires, some advanced features will no longer be available, but you can still continue to use the basic features of the software.
Your local libraries will not be affected in any way, and you can continue to view, edit, and export your documents. However, the portion of cloud libraries that exceeds the limit will be locked. Copies that have already synchronized locally can still be viewed or edited, but later changes will not sync. You can export your data at any time or convert a cloud library to a local library.
